The Korean Studies Center at George Mason University provides unique services to both the George Mason community and the Korean American community in the United States by providing opportunities to engages in scholarly research about Korean culture and society including language, history, art, social, political, and economic issues concerning the Korean peninsula. The center also encourage to engage in international and global issues relating to Korea emphasizing intercultural and interdisciplinary studies of Korea. The center is conveniently located just 15 miles outside of Washington, D.C., George Mason University is the largest and most diverse University in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

There is a large Korean American community that calls GMU and Northern Virginia home and that community is rapidly growing. KCS plays a unique role in enhancing the relationship between Korea and the U.S. through it's relationships with students, visiting scholars, and community.  KSC actively initiates and explores various academic and scholarly projects in an effort to globalize Korean cultural tradition, artistic heritage, and spiritual orientation and to promote cross-cultural academic engagement.
