Promoting Cultural Traditions

The Korean Studies Centers hosts and sponsors a number of cultural events throughout the year. From traditional Korean music to art history, dancing, and religion, KSC provides an opportunity for students, visiting scholars, and the Korean community to learn about, promote, and preserve traditional Korean arts and culture. KCS also plays a key role in initiating various academic and scholarly projects relating to Korean culture.

Below is a listing of some of the academic and cultural events that KSC has hosted:

  • Washington Korean Dance Company, Traditional Korean Dance Performance
  • Lecture on Korea’s Golden Age, Speaker: Dr. Ro, Young-chan (GMU)
  • Lecture on Korean Buddhism, Speaker: Dr. Park, Sung-Bae (State University of New York at Stony Brook)
  • Lecture on Korean Art, Speaker: Dr. Kwon, Ji-Yeon (GMU)

  • Novel reading by the authors and translators, Novelist Ha, Il-ji, Chun, Oon-young and translator Bruce Fulton
